History & Details
Dating from roughly the 3rd to 5th centuries CE, the Shewaki stupa formed part of a network of religious sites along the ancient routes connecting the Indian subcontinent with the highlands of Afghanistan. Archaeological work has uncovered additional stupas, architectural fragments, and ceramics around the site, revealing a once-active religious landscape. Recent conservation has helped stabilize the surviving remains and preserve them for the future.
