Once a thriving city of the Ghaznavid Empire, Qala-e Bost stood at the crossroads of ancient trade routes in southern Afghanistan. Its most enduring monument is the great arched gateway, known as the Arch of Bost, which dates to the 11th or 12th century. Surrounded today by the vast landscapes of Helmand, its ruins offer a glimpse into a time when merchants, scholars, and armies passed through this remarkable city.
